World No Tobacco Day World no tobacco day is celebrated on May 31st every year. This initiative was adopted by the world health organization (who) in 1987 to draw everyone's attention to the tobacco epidemic. This day gives us the opportunity to raise awareness among the general public about the harmful effects of tobacco. According to the global adult tobacco survey (GATS), India 2016-17 fact sheet, 42.4% of men, 14.2% of women, and 28.6% of adults, a total of 266.8 million people, use tobacco in some way. According to GLOBOCAN 2018, 92,011 cases of oral cancer and 48,698 cases of lung cancer are newly diagnosed every year in Japan. Tobacco attacks all organs in the body, causing cancer in other organs such as the throat, esophagus, stomach, and pancreas, and causing some non-cancerous diseases.
