INTERNATIONAL YOGA DAY
“Yoga is an invaluable gift of India’s ancient tradition. It
embodies unity of mind and body; thought and action; restraint and fulfilment;
harmony between man and nature; a holistic approach to health and well-being” –
Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi
Yoga is a trend that has been flourishing
from the years; rather this has become a trendsetter in maintaining both
physical and mental well-being. Each Yogic activity is a key to improving
flexibility, strength, balance and attaining harmony.
Since 2015, International Yoga Day is
observed on June 21 to spread awareness among the masses about the importance
of Yoga and its effects upon human health.
International Day of Yoga was declared by the United Nations Generally Assembly in its resolution on December 11, 2014, on the strong appeal of the incumbent Prime Minister of India Narendra Modi that an international day must be designated to highlight the importance and need of yoga in the contemporary era.
Derived from the Sanskrit language the word “Yog”, Yoga
refers to uniting (with someone) or joining.
International Yoga Day 2021 theme is “Yoga for well-being”.
All the world is passing through COVID-19 pandemic and almost every country has
imposed lockdown in a certain form. In this situation, it is hard or impossible
for people to remain mentally and physically fit and healthy. People are
suffering from anxiety and depression even if the lockdown is getting softer in
some parts of the world. Social distancing and a strong body immune system are
the only available cures that we should embrace. International Day of
Yoga 2021 theme focuses upon telling people to stay motivated at home
and adopt a healthy lifestyle by doing exercise and yoga. People are getting
fatter and desperate at home because they feel like caged animals. Exercise
helps us to stay optimistic and yoga helps us to explore new ideas to spend
time and earn money without going outside. being grounded is central to yoga. It can help improve focus, clarity and
productivity, qualities that may have faded as routines were erased during the
coronavirus pandemic. “When you’re grounded, you’ll feel more at peace with
yourself, more patient with others and balanced when tackling what the day
throws your way,” says Amelia Vogler, author of Pioneers in Healing Touch.
Just like pure meditation, yoga allows you to detach yourself from the
daily routine of hard and demanding work, studies, and family responsibilities
and just turn off for one hour or so. It promotes relaxation through three
aspects; body, mind, and breathing. During this period you set your soul free
from all that tension, all the worries and just concentrate on your inner self,
a relaxed self. When you ward away all these worries and responsibilities
within that hour, you are actually clearing up your mind, and are then able to
better reflect on the past while planning for the future in a relaxed manner
that allows you to notice the enjoyment of the present moment.
With innumerable benefits,
Yoga is a full proof health insurance at zero cost.
