LUCK V/S HARD WORK
Luck and hard work are apparently two sides of the
same coin. The absence of either one becomes justification for the desired or
undesired outcome.
Hard work can be described as relentless effort towards a set aim. Luck on the other hand is synonymous to terms or ideas such as fortune, destiny or the millennial lingo favourite these days ‘Karma’. These terms for centuries have spiralled around the debate whether just like a sculptor an individual carves his or her own life or the fact that each is born with a pre- determined ride called life.
A more positive outlook towards life would lay more emphasis on working hard. More often than not, luck or its absence more precisely becomes the scapegoat to brush one’s own culpability under the carpet.
At times we tend to do everything right, put our best
foot forward but still end up being dejected, blaming it on our luck. This luck
can hinder one’s achievements once, twice but not for long. Hard work pays off
in its own ways, sooner or later. Failure to achieve a goal or objective makes
us vulnerable at times, rendering us incapable of understanding the ways of the
world.
For instance the recent debate on nepotism in
Bollywood has received a backlash from hundreds of talented, hard working
people who do not seem to have the ‘luck’. But what is more significant is the
fact that it has ignited a revolution, from where Promethean figures would
emerge who would democratise the industry.
Hard work is an investment that is bound to fetch you
good returns, not necessarily immediately. Sitting on the shore, waiting for
the tide of fortune wont help unless one is willing to take the plunge and grab
the pearl of success.
Luck follows around hard work- the harder one works,
more luck they seem to have.
