THINGS TO LOOK FORWARD IN 2021
Shakespeare wrote one of his greatest plays King Lear when he was quarantined during the plague in London in the 1660s. Similarly, the new year will be characterized by some ground-breaking discoveries and events. Something good has to happen right? It can’t be all bad and it is not! Here are some of the things to look forward to in the novice 2021.
Indeed the most anticipated as well as
much needed is the vaccine against Coronavirus. It seems only surreal that
scientists and researchers around the globe have been able to come up with
antidotes in such a short span of time. What better new year’s gift could there
have been!
OLYMPICS
The 2020 Tokyo Olympics were put on pause because of
the pandemic, but are now scheduled for July 2021. It may not look like
Olympics past -- the IOC says it will be a "simpler, more restrained
approach," -- but that won't stop us from indulging in the communal joy of
pretending to know how gymnastics is scored.
TECHNOLOGICAL
BOOM
The pandemic clearly taught us the
value of technology. 2021 will witness some significant technological
developments like Artificial intelligence and 6G offering us buffering speed
higher than ever. Amazon and Tesla are also planning to start drone delivery
(now that’s something!!)
The t20 cricket world cup is scheduled
for October this year and will take place in none other than India! So all the
cricket lovers (which is literally like all if us) save your dates to witness
some smashing shots!
Each one of us was heartbroken at the
failure of the Chandrayan 2 space moon mission in 2019. Well the good news is that
ISRO plans to herald Chandrayan 3 as a continuation mission around year-end,
which will aim at a soft landing on the moon.
CELEBRATIONS
and GATHERINGS
The world can finally seem normal with
spaces public spaces opening up and people getting back on their feet.
Celebrations can resume but only with all the necessary precautions. The human
race can socialize once again, but not without social distancing.
The new year brings its own bag of
surprises colored in hope and positivity, as Indian prime minister Narendra
Modi in his new year address to the nation says –
"Aasman mein sar uthakar, ghane badlon ko cheer kar, roshni ka
sankalp lein, abhi to suraj uga hai...,"
(Rising up in the sky, tearing apart
overcast clouds, with the beacon of light, the sun has just risen)
