“Paytms removal from google play” Aren’t we becoming slaves to these foreigners again

We all use Paytm in everyday life, it has become a daily essential in our lives. Afterall, it has made our life simple and convinient in many ways. With this Indian e-commerce payment gateway, we are heading towards digitization. Paytm wallets and its UPI feature has made our life go Cashfree. Paytm is one the most trusted payment application used in India.

In this recent week only, we heard Google removed Paytm from Google play store. It was a sudden shock for all of us. Even, some of the Paytm users uninstalled it. The application was temperorily removed from google store.

Why was the application removed?

The hardships between Paytm and Google started from september 11, when Paytm launched a campaign called Paytm cricket League for claiming more profit during IPL. With this campaign Paytm rewarded it's active users stickers of cricket players which could be used to form a team of IPL. In this campaign, with active participation, people could get some cashback directly in their UPI accounts. On September 18, Google removed the application from playstore saying that this campaign was violating its Gambling policies.

In respond to Google's alligations, Paytm accuses Google of 'Antitrust'. Google didn't give it any chance or notice to paytm. It just removed the application from the store after one notification.

We can thus say that in a way, Google or the foreigners are again trying to overpower Paytm or us, the Indians. Firstly, Paytm has clearly mentioned that there was no policy violation in the campaign league, and Paytm did not allow users to purchase any player. So there was  no reason to take the application down from Play store. Secondly, if there have been observed any sort of policy violation by Paytm, Google could have sent a notice first than to directly remove the application with one notification.

This sudden taking down of Paytm from Google store can definitely cause Antitrust issues upon Google in lot of stakeholders.
