Article 370: The Untold Story
Article 370: The Untold Story
Ever since the accession to India, the Kashmir valley has been a political challenge for the Indian Government and all previous governments. All have tried to work towards a political settlement but nothing worked. Finally, a big decision has taken for Kashmir.
Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Monday declared in the Rajya Sabha for the revoking of Article 370, which gave special powers to Jammu and Kashmir.
But the question is that is this will restore peace to the region?
Well, Kashmir conflicts have always been a serious issue for India. The situation is so old and complicated that it will take many decades to bring it back to a peaceful state. This change will work but it will take a very long time with consistent efforts and organized policies and rules.
Growth is painful. Change is painful. But nothing is as painful as staying stuck somewhere in the same situation. Every big change brings a tide of many big challenges but it will surely make the situation better.
The right decision for the unemployed youth of Kashmir
Kashmiri youth have become the face of violence. Watching teenage boys holding stones and guns in their hands and attacking the forces, is very sad and painful. The kids and adults are supposed to hold their books and to dream for their future ..instead of this they are participating in such illegal activities. Nothing is more painful than this for a country.
After this decision, many doors will open for the youth of Kashmir. They will get a good education and jobs. They will get every basic right and resource like people in other states of the country.
Security expenditure of Kashmir is higher than its population
J&K gets 10% of Central funds with only 1% of population. Jammu and Kashmir has received 10 % of all Central grants given to states over the 2000-2016 period, despite having only one percent of the country’s population, analysis by The Hindu of Central and State finances shows. besides that State govt spends Rs 1.5 crore annually to protect separatists in Kashmir. The state has received more grants than any other state in India since 1995. Most of the funds allocated to the state are diverted to the Kashmir Valley.
A huge amount of money is spent every year for the security purpose in Kashmir. If that much amount of money is used for development purpose of the state then it would be in a better situation now.
We don't want to continue that blood-shed of our soldiers
Who can forget that horrible picture of the Pulwama attack? A number of soldiers lost their lives due to this Kashmir conflict. Every time army soldiers are targeted. Many innocent people of Kashmir also losing their lives. This bloodshed has to stop, only a strong action will make it possible

Why should a state of the Indian Union have a special status?
Article 370 of the Indian Constitution is a 'temporary provision' which grants special autonomous status to Jammu & Kashmir. Under this article, all the provisions of the Constitution which are applicable to other states are not applicable to J&K.
A state of the Indian union has a special status, it conveys a wrong signal not to the Kashmiris but also to the separatists, Pakistan and indeed the international community that j&k is still to become an integral part of India, the sooner article 370 is done away is better.
We should welcome the decision taken by our government. This decision was really necessary because we can't afford one more partition. After all, it's not Kashmir's problem, it's India's problem. we must believe that the solution is possible and we should have faith in our government.
We wish this change will bring peace to Kashmir.
Jai Hind..Jai Bharat.
